After a series of four consecutive losses, KKR had slipped to the eighth spot, but Roy’s aggressive innings helped them turn the tide.
He smashed five sixes and four boundaries on his way to a 29-ball 56, while Narayan Jagadeesan contributed 27 runs from 29 balls, giving KKR their best-ever start of 83 runs from 56 balls.
The duo set the tempo up front and paved the way for an impressive team performance.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ batting performance was sandwiched between two fantastic bowling spells from Sri Lankan leg-spin sensation Hasaranga, who claimed 2 wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs, causing enough trouble for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
His tight spell after the powerplay created an opportunity for Vyshak to strike twice, dismissing Jagadeesan and Roy.
However, Nitish Rana’s explosive batting ensured that KKR did not lose their momentum.
Despite being dropped twice, Rana capitalized on his luck and raced to a 48 off just 21 balls, which included three fours and four sixes.
After Nitish Rana’s explosive innings, Kolkata Knight Riders’ new hero Rinku Singh took charge and remained unbeaten on 18 runs off just 10 balls.
He smashed two fours and one six to ensure that KKR reached the 200-run mark against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
David Wiese also contributed with two sixes in his unbeaten innings of 12 runs. Their efforts helped KKR put up a challenging total on the scoreboard.
Jason Roy demonstrated his batting prowess in the powerplay, leading by example and guiding Kolkata Knight Riders to their best-ever start of the season.
He reached his fifty off just 22 balls, marking his second consecutive half-century for KKR.
The English opener showed his intent against Royal Challengers Bangalore’s new ball bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and David Willey, and unleashed his fury when left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed was introduced in the last over of the powerplay.
Roy’s aggressive batting set the tone for KKR’s strong performance and helped them put up an imposing total on the scoreboard.
Jason Roy was in full swing during the powerplay and took a particular liking to RCB’s left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed.
In just five balls of Ahmed’s over, Roy smashed four sixes, contributing to KKR’s highest powerplay score this season of 66 for no loss.
However, credit must be given to Sri Lankan spinner Hasaranga, who bowled a tidy over after the powerplay and mounted pressure on the duo by conceding just two runs.

Vyshak and Harshal Patel also joined forces to tighten the noose, causing the boundaries to suddenly dry up and the pressure to intensify on the KKR batsmen.
The struggle to score big hits was evident on Jagadeesan, who was dismissed by a Vyshak bouncer, while Roy got out to an excellent leg-stump yorker from the uncapped Indian bowler that cleaned him up around his stump.
