Mohit’s performance in Qualifier 1 was impressive as he successfully claimed two wickets for a mere 31 runs in four overs.
Among his notable dismissals was CSK captain MS Dhoni, which unfortunately resulted in him facing a barrage of abuse on social media.

In Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023), the Gujarat Titans (GT) fell short by 15 runs against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.
Despite their efforts, the visitors couldn’t successfully chase down the target of 173 runs set by the Super Kings at Chepauk.
Displaying their mastery of the conditions, CSK bowled out GT for 157 runs in the full 20 overs, securing their spot in the final for an impressive 10th time.
While Dhoni may not have shone with the bat that night, his tactical prowess shone brightly as he led CSK’s defense against a formidable GT batting lineup.
However, the aftermath of the game took an unpleasant turn, not on the field but on social media platforms.
Mohit Sharma, who marked his international debut under the captaincy of Dhoni, was overjoyed after dismissing his mentor.
His journey has been one of the remarkable comebacks of the season.

Having faced a lengthy injury layoff and contemplating giving up on cricket at one point, Mohit found solace in the encouraging words of Ashish Nehra, which helped him rebuild his confidence.
He humbly accepted the role of a net bowler for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2023, setting aside his ego despite having previously represented India.
Mohit’s hard work paid off when he earned a spot in the IPL 2023 squad, and he has since taken 19 wickets in 12 matches.
Unfortunately, the dismissal of Dhoni sparked a wave of online hate. Several Dhoni fans resorted to posting despicable comments filled with abuse on Mohit’s social media posts. Here are some examples of the appalling remarks made on his posts.
Dhoni expressed immense satisfaction with his team’s performance and securing a place in the IPL 2023 final.
Their ultimate goal is to clinch their fifth IPL title, equalling the record held by the Mumbai Indians.
Reflecting on CSK’s consistent presence in the final, Dhoni emphasized the arduous nature of this achievement, stating that it requires months of dedicated preparation.
He acknowledged the significance of the IPL, noting that it has evolved from having 8 top teams to now featuring 10 teams.
Dhoni made it clear that reaching the final is not a mere formality, but rather the culmination of two months of relentless hard work from everyone involved.

While acknowledging the limited opportunities for the middle-order batsmen, he credited the collective contributions of the entire team.
These remarks were made by Dhoni during the post-match presentation ceremony.
