Following the recommendation by ex-Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar for Rohit Sharma to skip the IPL 2023 matches and stay fresh for the World Test Championships 2023 (WTC 2023) Final, the coach of Mumbai Indians (MI), Mark Boucher, has clarified the situation regarding his availability.
MI has had a difficult season with only three victories in seven matches so far.
Gavaskar had suggested that MI may not qualify for the playoffs, thus advising Rohit to take a break in preparation for the WTC final.
Sunil Gavaskar suggested that there should be some changes made to the batting order of Mumbai Indians.
He also advised Rohit Sharma to take a break for the time being and focus on keeping himself fit for the World Test Championship final.
Gavaskar recommended that Rohit should return to play the last few matches after taking a little breather.
These comments were made amidst Rohit’s captaincy tenure, during which Wankhede stadium had witnessed both highs and lows, triumphs and absolute glory over the last few years.
The hashtag #Hitman10 was used to signify his captaincy for ten years.

When asked to respond to Sunil Gavaskar’s advice about Rohit Sharma needing a break from IPL, Mumbai Indians’ coach Mark Boucher stated that he did not believe Rohit needed a rest at the moment.

Obviously, we want Rohit playing, because he’s a very good player and a leader as well,” Boucher informed the media ahead of MI’s encounter with Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.
According to the former South African cricketer, Mark Boucher, Rohit Sharma is currently available to play.
Boucher stated that if Rohit believes taking a break is in his best interest and approaches him about it, he would address the matter and consider it.
However, Rohit has not yet made such a request.
Boucher reiterated that as of now, Rohit will play if he is available for selection. “If he is available to play, he will play,” Boucher confirmed.
Mumbai Indians (MI) have a lot of ground to cover in the group stage of IPL 2023, having had an inconsistent run in the tournament so far.
