Shubman Gill of Kolkata Knight Riders was in fine form, displaying exceptional timing and hitting boundaries that silenced the crowd.
However, his performance waned after Wriddhiman Saha’s dismissal, as he mishit a loft to long-on off Sunil Narine’s delivery.
Despite Hardik Pandya’s valiant efforts, which included hitting Suyash down the ground for four and launching Narine over deep mid-wicket for six, he was eventually dismissed after being trapped lbw by Harshit Rana’s inward movement.
Gill, too, fell victim to Narine, toe-ending a loft to long-on.
However, the opening of Shankar and Miller proved to be the turning point in the match, as they stepped up at the right time to guide Gujarat Titans to yet another successful chase.
In a thrilling match, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 179/7 in their 20 overs, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributing a blistering 81 runs and Andre Russell adding 34 runs to the total.
However, Gujarat Titans proved to be the stronger team as they chased down the target of 180 in just 17.5 overs, with Vijay Shankar remaining unbeaten on 51 runs and Shubman Gill falling just short of his half-century with 49 runs.
