Katherine Brunt, England’s most successful limited-overs bowler, has announced her retirement from international cricket on Friday.
She had previously announced her retirement from regional cricket but will continue to play in The Hundred.

Brunt had also announced her retirement from Test cricket last year.
Over the course of her 19-year-long career, Brunt represented England in 14 Tests, 141 ODIs, and 112 T20Is, taking a total of 335 wickets.
She was often the leader of the bowling pack and took the new ball, helping her become a three-time World Cup winner.
Additionally, she played a few handy innings with the bat and scored two half-centuries in ODIs and one in Tests.
Having won four Ashes, Brunt’s retirement announcement comes ahead of the upcoming Australia series, which is scheduled to begin in June.
Her last appearance for England was in the T20 World Cup semifinal against South Africa earlier this year.
However, she has been out of the ODI setup for a while, having played her last 50-over international in July last year.
In her retirement statement, Brunt said, “Well, here I am, 19 years later, at the end of my international journey.

I thought I’d never be able to reach this decision, but I have, and it’s been the hardest one of my life.
I never had any dreams or aspirations to do what I’ve done; I only ever wished to make my family proud of me. And what I’ve achieved has gone way beyond that.”
Brunt expressed her gratitude towards cricket, saying that it gave her a sense of belonging, purpose, security, and many cherished memories, as well as best friends that would last a lifetime.
She thanked everyone associated with the England cricket family, past and present, for making her time in the team a special one, and expressed her appreciation towards the supporters for creating an irreplaceable atmosphere.
Brunt also thanked her family, calling them her biggest fans and greatest support, without whom she would not have been able to make this journey.
Clare Connor, Brunt’s first national captain and current England Women’s Managing Director, described her as an unbelievable role model who has given everything to the game of cricket, particularly women’s cricket, for nearly two decades.
Connor praised Brunt’s human qualities, including her passion for taking the sport forward, her care for her teammates, and her desire to always come back stronger despite significant injury setbacks.
Connor highlighted Brunt’s impact on inspiring the next generation of cricketers and bringing a new audience to women’s cricket.
