The batting performance of the team has posed a significant concern throughout the season, with only captain David Warner managing to secure a position in the top 30 of the Orange Cap list.

Following three consecutive seasons of successfully reaching the playoffs, the past two seasons have been disheartening for DC as they persistently pursue their elusive quest for the championship title.

Renowned Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha observed that the batsmen of Delhi Capitals exhibited a sense of liberation and self-expression during their encounter with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala on May 17, having been relieved of the pressure of playoff qualification.

Delhi had encountered batting difficulties for a significant portion of the season; however, following their elimination from the playoff race, they delivered a remarkable performance by amassing a formidable total of 213/2 in their allotted 20 overs against PBKS.

During an interview with Jio Cinemas following the victorious match against PBKS, Pragyan Ojha expressed his astonishment, stating, “The coaches and mentors must be wondering where these Delhi Capitals were all along.

The manner in which they batted, particularly the exceptional performances by Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, and Rilee Roussow, showcased a distinct style of batting under pressure. Now that the burden of the race is lifted, we are witnessing a different facet of their batting prowess.”

Captain David Warner and opener Prithvi Shaw laid a strong foundation with their impressive 94-run partnership, setting the stage for an outstanding innings by Rilee Rossouw, who blazed his way to 82 runs off a mere 37 deliveries.

Although the Delhi Capitals faced some challenges in the field, including dropped catches, they persevered and clinched a hard-fought 15-run victory.

Their last match of the season will take place on Saturday, May 19, against CSK, and it will be hosted at their home ground.
