Gavaskar shared his heartfelt wish for Chennai to secure the championship, fueled by his strong belief that witnessing MS Dhoni emerge victorious once again would be an extraordinary and memorable feat.

According to Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, the Gujarat Titans are currently positioned as the leading team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

However, on a personal level, Gavaskar expresses his desire for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to claim the championship, primarily due to his deep admiration for MS Dhoni.

Gavaskar openly acknowledges that CSK holds a special place in his heart as his second favorite team in the IPL, with his hometown side, the Mumbai Indians, holding the top spot in his affections.

The IPL 2023 kickstarted with a thrilling clash between the Gujarat Titans and CSK at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking the commencement of the season.

Now, the tournament reaches its pinnacle as the final showdown unfolds between these same two teams in the Indian Premier League final.

In Qualifier 1, held just three days ago, CSK secured a triumphant victory in front of their passionate home supporters at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, triumphing over Hardik’s team.

As the defending champions, the Gujarat Titans will bask in the support of their home fans this time around, having already emerged victorious against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 on Friday, setting the stage for an enthralling rematch against the Chennai Super Kings.

Driven by his belief that witnessing MS Dhoni triumph once more would be truly remarkable, Gavaskar expressed his desire for Chennai to clinch the title. In his own words, he stated, “Chennai Super Kings have always been my second favorite team apart from the Mumbai Indians.

My heart wants CSK to win because the fact that MS Dhoni is able to win it one more time would be fantastic.

It would prove once again that calm, cool decision-making can make a difference. Having said that, the Gujarat Titans have been the best team.

They possess a terrific opener in Shubman Gill and the dynamic presence of Hardik Pandya,” shared Sunil Gavaskar with Sports Today.

The question of whether MS Dhoni can secure his fifth title as captain, thus equaling Rohit Sharma’s record, or if Hardik Pandya will become the third consecutive captain to hoist the trophy, remains a challenging one to answer.

With players from both teams displaying exceptional form, the stage is set for a highly competitive encounter.
