Mumbai Indians Smash Another 200+ Runs
In Mohali, Mumbai Indians achieved a remarkable feat by chasing down 215 runs in the nineteenth over against the Punjab Kings.
The Punjab team had amassed a huge total, courtesy of Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone’s onslaught, but it was Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav who outperformed their opponents and even themselves during the chase.

Eventually, Mumbai Indians won the game with seven balls to spare. This victory marked MI’s second consecutive chase of 200+ runs, a feat that no other team has accomplished in IPL history.
Shall we start from the very beginning…
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first, as Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh started cautiously.
However, the latter was soon dismissed by Arshad Khan, giving Punjab Kings an early setback. Dhawan and the new batsman, Matthew Short, then started to accelerate towards the end of the powerplay, putting Punjab in a strong position.
But it was the deceptive bowling of Piyush Chawla that removed Dhawan, luring him down the track and beating him with a shortened length.
Despite Chawla’s impressive performance of 2 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs, Punjab had only managed to reach 78-2 after ten overs, failing to fully capitalize on the favorable conditions.
Although they had lost only two wickets, could this be just the calm before the storm?
Jofra Archer’s unintentional full-toss at Liam Livingstone resulted in a turning point in the match.
Archer, who is known for his economical bowling, had the ball slip from his hand and hit the splice of Livingstone’s bat.
However, Jitesh Sharma avenged Archer by hitting three fours in the over, which went for 21 runs. After that, the Punjab Kings dominated the Mumbai bowling, with Livingstone and Sharma scoring 119 runs off just 52 balls.
Even Archer, who had earlier bowled the fastest ball of the IPL at 153 kmph, went wicketless with figures of 4-0-56-0.
Unfortunately for Mumbai, Rohit Sharma’s struggles in white-ball cricket continued, as he fell to Rishi Dhawan in the powerplay.

Cam Green also departed off the last ball of the powerplay, leaving Mumbai in trouble with a required rate of over eleven and two top batsmen dismissed.
However, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav soon took charge, punishing the Punjab bowlers and scoring freely all around the ground.
Even Punjab’s go-to bowler, Arshdeep Singh, was unable to stop the rampaging duo.
Mumbai needed 45 runs off 30 balls when Suryakumar was dismissed, and 37 off 24 when Kishan fell.
However, Tim David and Tilak Varma finished the job with a quickfire partnership, making what seemed like an impossible chase look easy.

The win lifted Mumbai to sixth place on the table, while Punjab dropped to seventh.
