The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face some significant pressure as they go head-to-head against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their final group stage match of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023).

The team, having won the championship four times, must take responsibility for their current predicament.

With a victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their previous home match, they could have secured a spot in the playoffs.

However, a six-wicket defeat in that game has left CSK’s fate hanging in the balance.

The silver lining is that Chennai holds their destiny in their own hands; a win against DC will secure their qualification for the playoffs.

Nonetheless, this victory does not guarantee a top-two finish for them, as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) also have the potential to reach the same number of points.

Following Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) elimination of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamshala, the competition for the three remaining spots intensifies, involving Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Mumbai Indians (MI).

RR and KKR face slim chances of qualifying, as their maximum possible points tally reaches only 14. The battle becomes intense among RCB, MI, CSK, and LSG, as they vie for a place in the playoffs.

In the event of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) experiencing a defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, it will prove to be a significant blow for them.

Subsequently, their hopes will rest on Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also facing defeats in their final group stage matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT), respectively.

Should Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), RCB, and MI emerge victorious in their remaining games while CSK falls to DC, the campaign led by MS Dhoni’s side will come to an end.

In this particular scenario, CSK would be left with only 15 points, while LSG (17), MI (16), and RCB (16) secure qualification.
