Representing Bengal in domestic cricket, Mukesh has previously been included in India’s squads but is yet to make his international debut.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the pacer has been a leader of Bengal’s bowling attack for some time.
He received his first national call-up in October 2020 for the home ODIs against South Africa.
Mukesh made his first-class debut in 2015 and has taken 149 red-ball wickets at an impressive average of 21.55, including six five-wicket hauls.
He made an impact right from his first match, in which he dismissed Virender Sehwag and claimed four wickets.
During the 2019/20 Ranji Trophy season, Mukesh Kumar became prominent after taking 32 wickets in 10 matches, which included a six-wicket haul against Karnataka in the semi-finals that helped Bengal reach the final. In addition, he dismissed KL Rahul in the first innings, as well as Manish Pandey (in both innings) and Devdutt Padikkal, finishing the match with eight wickets.
Mukesh was selected for the India A team in September 2022 for the unofficial Tests against New Zealand A and finished the series as the joint-highest wicket-taker with nine scalps, which included a five-wicket haul in the first unofficial Test.
He has been picked as one of the three standby players for the Indian team in the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval.

He was later signed by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023 auctions for INR 5.5 crore and has played six games, taking six wickets.
With injuries to quicks Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, Mukesh could potentially be included in the Indian squad for the World Test Championship final.
