The team arrived in England on May 2 to prepare for the series, which is part of the ICC Super League.
However, due to bad weather, they have had limited opportunities to practice for the series, which is scheduled to take place at Chelmsford from May 9.
Unfortunately, Bangladesh’s only practice game against Ireland Wolves was washed out on May 5, and they have had very limited opportunities to prepare for the opening ODI against the hosts.
The match is crucial for the hosts as they are eager to secure direct qualification for the World Cup later this year. Bangladesh has only been able to practice at the match venue once due to the bad weather, which has made their preparation even more challenging.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha acknowledged the unique situation they face in playing against Ireland in England, which is not a usual occurrence.
He went on to state that they cannot blame anyone for the bad weather that has disrupted their preparation, and that it is a learning experience for the team.
Hathurusingha also remarked that if they had known about the challenges they would face in terms of the schedule and preparation, they would not have agreed to it.
Hathurusingha emphasized that the team is not looking too far ahead in terms of preparing for the World Cup, as they will be playing in different conditions in India.
Therefore, their primary focus is on the current series against Ireland, and winning matches under these conditions.
Hathurusingha stated that their main priority for the current series against Ireland is to win matches in the conditions they are facing.
He noted that their focus is not on the World Cup, as the conditions they will face in India will be different.
The team will concentrate on the present and work towards winning the series.
Hathurusingha also mentioned that newcomers Rony Talukdar and Towhid Hridoy have an opportunity to showcase their skills and contribute positively to the team’s success.
Hathurusingha expressed that the series against Ireland provides a good opportunity for the team to gain experience playing in different conditions.
