Youtube is synonymous with content and in last one year they have reached heights no one could, 6 Billion audience, on over 10 Billion devices and just one name, Youtube.

In the Era of Re-Branding, where each company thrives to rebrand itself into a younger version of itself, Youtube is one of the innovative ones. From a 4:3 ratio single format video sharing format ideated 12 years ago, today they boast over 14 quality versions including 4k, 360 degree video, international live telecasts and multi device screening.


We have seen youtube grow faster in the last couple of years that ever before, better and better design, cleaner and comfortable UI, Mobile Friendly and even now VR friendly. Youtube now is just not for video’s they now boast of YouTube Red for Tv shows and Movie, YouTube Music for music lovers, YouTube Tv for you to snuggle up and even YouTube game for the game geeks.

To put it simply, YouTube’ has evolved a lot, and they are not even close to done. Over the last few months they have started releasing updates and will continue to throughout the rest of the year. When all is said and done, they promise to bring a new level of functionality and a more consistent look across the desktop and mobile experiences.

Not just mobile even YouTube Desktop has seen a drastic change, the new look applies material design to the webpage, including a dark mode for a cinematic appeal. The overall appeal is fresh and comforting in sync with the latest design trends over the internet.

For those wondering what new, based on the latest blogpost

  • Clean new design. They have made the header white to let content take the lead and moved the  navigation tabs to the bottom of the app so they’re closer to your thumbs.
  • Videos that move with you. Earlier this year, they introduced  a gesture that allows you to double tap on the left or right side of a video to fast forward or rewind 10 seconds. Give it a try!
  • Watch at your own pace. Users love that they are able to speed up and slow down the playback of a video on desktop, and they have bought this feature to the mobile app today, so you can enjoy videos at whatever speed you prefer.
  • Browse and discover while you watch. They have recently added a feature that lets you view a row of suggested videos while you’re watching in full screen.

But then the red cherry on the top, literally is the YouTube Logo and YouTube Icon, a bright red YouTube Icon with the name written next to it. Don’t try too hard, its not hard to miss it in the top left corner. The updated Logo is a more flexible design that works better across a variety of devices, even on the tiniest screens.

Why’s it more flexible? When room is limited (say on a smartphone) the brightened up Icon acts as an abbreviated Logo, which will be seen more easily and clearly. The new logo was rolled out to web platform and soon will hit all the devices.
