About the Founder(s)

Voonik was founded in 2013 by Sujayath Ali and Navaneetha Krishnan. Sujayath Ali, Co-Founder and CEO of Voonik, has over a decade of experience in Product Management, E-commerce, Analytics, Cloud Computing, Mobile Commerce and go-to Market strategy, amongst others. He has the right technical and leadership skills to lead the top consumer app like Voonik. His vision fixed with his unique ability to connect the dots from strategy to plans has been of great help to the rise of the business. Navaneetha Krishnan CTO, Voonik.com has been enthusiastically spearheading the IT department of the company right from its beginning. With over a decade’s experience in Information Technology, he can be be known as a technology veteran. Over the years, he has supported huge startups to develop with his profound knowledge in IT, which makes him an expert of nursling firms. His experience combined with his imagination, helps him judiciously handle the prerequisites of a growing company.

History

Voonik is India’s first personal shopping app. The Bangalore-based funded startup was started with a vision to be “every woman’s personal stylist”. Voonik has a high offering as a free, online personal stylist in an app to its users. The app handpicks the best clothes for users based on their body type, skin tone, budget and style. It provides instant advice from stylists on the kind of clothes that will suit the user, how to wear them, and what to pair with them.
The company is based in Bengaluru and has a strength of 450 employees till June 2016.

Achievement
If we talk about current status of the finances, according to Tofler, Voonik increased nearly 600% in 2017 where losses increased by 50% from previous year. Recently, they tied up with communication platform Truecaller for ease of delivery of orders from Voonik and to bring on-board new users of Voonik using their Truecaller credentials. The company has partnered with Truecaller’s products TrueSDK and Truecaller Priority services. The Truecaller Priority sign up will allow customers to identify IVR or delivery verification calls while shopping on Voonik. Calls from Voonik will also be identified as Voonik’s Order Team.

Voonik Technologies, which owns and operates fashion e-commerce platform Voonik, has raised $20 million (Rs 133 crore) in a fresh round of funding. Sujayath Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Voonik said that the latest round was primarily led by the Bengaluru-based startup’s existing backer, Sequoia Capital, with Seedfund, also an early backer of the firm, and a clutch of new investors participating as well. The new investors in the round include a Japanese e-commerce operator.

Company Goals

In an interview with Quartz the co-founder and CEO Sujayath Ali said, “We have a good brand recognition in the affordable fashion segment and we feel there is an opportunity for us to build private labels. There’s no brand focused on the mid-tier and value segments, so we almost have a free-run in the market. But we haven’t done private labels before so it is going to be a huge challenge for us.

At this point, we aren’t actively looking to raise funds. But we might do so in three-four months to give any of our investors an exit, if they want. Though we are turning profitable, we may need some buffer funds, in case we have a bad quarter with an unforeseen event like demonetisation.”

Growth is the only goal that company has laid focus on.
